I'm a scientist, get me out of here!
Let’s inspire the next generation of aquaculture talent! Connect with school students from across the UK with I’m a Scientist, Get me out of here! – an enjoyable, effective, online, student-led engagement activity that requires no preparation and no travel time. Everything is online-based and text-only (no audio or video). All you need is a web browser and the ability to type quite fast.
You should expect to spend an average of an hour per month engaging with students across the academic year. The activity is flexible and works around your schedule – join in at the times that suit you.
You’ll retain control over your availability: block off days when you can’t take part, set the number of chats you can manage per week – we’ll arrange the rest. If you’re a technologist, trainee, apprentice or scientist in any area of the aquaculture sector, apply now to take part in I’m a Scientist in 2024.
You get to:
- Answer students’ questions about working in aquaculture and marine sciences
- Chat with students in text-only moderated chats
- Compete against fellow scientists to win students votes (you could win £500 for more engagement work)
By taking part, you can:
- Inspire the next generation in STEM
- Support school students to see the real-world applications of their learning
- Improve your communication skills
- Gain experience of public engagement in a flexible and enjoyable way
- Get access to the I’m a Scientist Academy
